Bessie Coleman (1892-1926) was an early American civil aviator. She was the first African-American woman, and also the first Native-American, to hold a pilot license.
Quote: "I decided blacks should not have to experience the difficulties I had faced, so I decided to open a flying school and teach other black women to fly."
